The Alan Jackson Therapy Session
G with an O, O with a D, Good Time
(Voiceover above read by JT, check it out!)
Happy Friday, Twerk Nation!
Dr. Jackson
The sharp-dressed Alan Jackson told me yesterday (and Jimmy Buffet, for that matter) that it was five o’clock somewhere. I typically don’t pay him much attention, but the weather was a perfect 80 degrees without a cloud in the sky, and I gave him a holler.
So as my workday passed like molasses, his words, not mine, I realized how happy I was.
I find pure joy tends to be that simple; the sun was out, I was listening to early 2000s country, and I was present.
The choice to be happy is simple, with few variables. Choosing not to be happy complicates things, requiring in-depth thought and leading to anxiety.
In short, I am happier when I unsubscribe from the delusion of being in control.
Speaking of joy: here is my favorite Alan Jackson noise ever. He yells, “AAA, EEE!”
This is something people don’t talk about, but they should. He makes this noise in like 75% of his songs. I keep hoping he’ll sing the remaining vowels as a screw-you anthem to consonants. I mean, the word vowel is Latin for vocal, after all.
I propose adding a “Y” in some concerts, and in some concerts, he doesn’t. This would keep the audience on edge and continue to solidify the odd definition of a vowel in our alphabet.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is precisely why I have anxiety.
I Deleted Spotify On Accident This Week
On Tuesday, I quickly left this utopia I speak of so highly. I was trying out a new podcast host, and it did not go well at all.
If you tried to listen to the podcast on Tuesday, particularly on Spotify, you could not find it. I sincerely apologize to those with abandonment issues, but we’re back!
My mom always said, “Well, don’t do that again.” So, we won’t, Mom.
Twerk Ethic’s Value
We used to ponder what value we provide as a variety show, but not anymore.
We craft the show to bring everyone together, laugh, remember a simpler time, and see the good in seemingly trivial things.
Next week’s episode is one of the better examples, as we will bring in the opening week of baseball. For some, this is just another year of a sport that has existed since the civil war.
But for us, it’s an Alan Jackson song - a familiar melody that will surely activate your brain’s pleasure and reward system.
Thanks, Dopamine.
But I suppose most of all, thanks, Alan Jackson. You’re the man.

“Sometimes Y” by Alan Jackson— where he just sings the consonants— is something I’d definitely listen to.
